Our Story

People often ask me how Tangled Roots Potting Bar came to be, and the truth is, it all started during one of the hardest seasons of my life.

Like so many others during COVID, I was working from home in a high stress corporate job. The days were long, I rarely saw anyone, and when my youngest child moved out, the house suddenly felt very quiet. I was proud of my family, but I was also sad, lonely, and searching for something that brought me joy.

That something turned out to be plants.

What started as a simple hobby quickly became a passion. One plant became ten. Ten became fifty. Before I knew it, I had over 500 houseplants filling my home. Caring for them gave me peace, purpose, and something to look forward to every day.

On the drive home from a vacation, I looked at my husband and said, “I think I want to open a nursery.”

It sounded a little crazy… but I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

So I did something even crazier.

I walked away from my corporate career and followed my heart.

At first, I focused on selling houseplants. I loaded them into my vehicle, set up at markets, and even tried selling from home. I worked hard, but something just wasn’t clicking.

Then one day, completely on a whim, I packed a small tray of succulents, a few pots, a little bowl of soil, and one simple choice of decorations.

That changed everything.

People didn’t just want to buy a plant. They wanted to create one. They laughed, visited with friends, got their hands dirty, and left with something they had made themselves. The smiles were contagious, and I knew I had found something special.

That little tray of succulents grew into Tangled Roots Potting Bar.

Today, I bring the experience to others through mobile potting parties, workshops, markets, ladies’ nights, birthdays, bridal showers, team-building events, schools, senior communities, and so much more.

Watching people slow down, laugh together, and create something beautiful reminds me why I took that leap of faith.

Sometimes life plants us exactly where we’re meant to grow.

Life's a Garden. Dig It!
